The Story Behind Delhi Belly

Welcome to our inviting rustic dining room.

Diners are greeted by a warm ambiance where the back corridor, adorned with regal Indian artwork, instantly tells the story of Delhi Belly Contemporary Indian Cuisine Bistro. Founding chef-owner Sagar Ghosh designed this charming bistro interior, including a fully-equipped Indian kitchen with a traditional tandoor oven.

Proprietor Ghosh personally presides over both the front and back of the house, ensuring a warm welcome for every visitor, even answering the phone himself. Delhi Belly is more than a restaurant—it’s a happy place where the contented buzz of diners fills the air.

Inspired by Kolkata and Delhi

Distinctive flavors and ingredients of Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) inspire the broad menu, created by Sagar Ghosh and chef-partner Sourav Biswas. Both chefs, born and raised in this Bengali region, bring its refined flavors and sophisticated street food to life.

The restaurant name and select dishes also pay homage to their professional training in Delhi, an area known for sumptuous Mughal-inspired dishes. The Bengal Tiger on the menu symbolizes the boldness and heritage of their home region. Delhi Belly proudly opened in the Year of the Tiger, 2022.

Meet the Team Behind Delhi Belly

Sagar Ghosh, Founding Owner-Chef, was born and raised in Kolkata. His innate flair for cooking and organization led to an international career at a young age. Ghosh gained a global perspective on diner preferences, working in roles such as cruise ship chef and leading a development team for upscale Indian restaurants in America. Before opening Delhi Belly, he was the opening chef for two prominent restaurants.

Sourav Biswas, Chef-Partner, also hails from Kolkata. He met Ghosh in professional school, and their friendship blossomed into a successful partnership. Sourav earned his degree at GSM Global School of Management/Hotel Management College in Kalyani, West Bengal, a school renowned for its state-of-the-art food production labs.

After completing intensive on-the-job training in Delhi, Sourav mastered the culinary arts and expanded his expertise in hospitality management. His passion lies in offering diners mouthwatering variations of classic dishes and sharing their history to enhance the dining experience.

The Visionary Partner

Sri Sambangi, Commercial Partner, brings his financial expertise, decades of experience in online branding, and deep knowledge of Indian cuisine to Delhi Belly. As a high-tech entrepreneur, his mission is to raise public awareness of quality, regional Indian restaurants.

Sambangi founded Clorder, Inc., a White Label company providing branding and online ordering solutions for small restaurants. With over 20 years of tech industry experience, he successfully helped businesses grow from startup phases to public companies like Cornerstone OnDemand (NASDAQ: CSOD).

This rich blend of talent and dedication makes Delhi Belly a standout destination for Best Indian Restaurant in Los Angeles.
